About

South Asian Climate Exchange Network (SCENE) is a regional initiative dedicated to provide a youth-led collaborative space which fosters a sense of solidarity, regional collaboration and policy consensus among grassroots based climate organisers, advocates, researchers, activists, and community leaders across South Asia.

Consultation Meetings

During June and July 2024, we organised several rounds of consultative meetings with climate leaders from across the region and beyond. These discussions were aimed to understand the necessity for a shared space, define its functions, and identify key considerations for its development.

Here are some glimpses from the consultation meetings:

Team and Structure

SCENE consists of leaders from various South Asian countries, with some observers from beyond the region. Our charter outlines the preamble, structure, core values, and other essential elements of the network, ensuring transparency and guiding our mission. Our charter can be accessed here.

  • Core Body: Provides strategic direction and overall management.
  • Executive Committee: Appointed on a rotational basis, responsible for the network’s operations.
  • Country-Specific Organising Committees: To Organise annual convenings and facilitate regional activities. This body is also appointed on a rotational basis.
  • Youth Mentorship Board: Supports and mentors emerging climate leaders.
  • Thematic Working Groups: To focus on specific areas of climate action, promoting evidence based research, policy work and other allied interventions.

About Peer-Mentorship Board

The Peer-Mentorship Board is a key component of SCENE, designed to support and guide emerging climate advocates across South Asia. Composed of experienced leaders and experts, the board offers need based mentorship opportunities, training sessions, and networking opportunities to enhance the skills and knowledge of young climate activists. By providing access to valuable resources and creating channels for feedback, the Peer-Mentorship Board aims to empower the next generation of climate leaders to drive impactful action in their communities.

If you are someone seeking mentorship in a climate-related area, you can connect with our board members who have volunteered for this cause. We maintain a database of mentors based on their field of expertise, and for further connection, you will need to reach out to them personally as indicated.
